
NPS Map Symbols for Locus Map
Locus Map is a popular and powerful outdoor navigation app for Android devices. The NPS Map Symbols icon packages available below allow Locus Map users to utilize the same standard cartographic symbols that are used on National Park Service maps. There are over 250 symbols which are separated into 16 categories and are available in two packages: normal and inverted (dark).
Installation
There are two methods to choose from for installing the NPS Map Symbols icon packages into the Locus Map app:
LOCUS STORE
The NPS Map Symbols icon packages can be downloaded directly from the Store within the Locus Map app. Within the store select the 'Graphics' category and the two 'NPS Map Symbols' options will be available.
MANUAL DOWNLOAD
Alternatively, the NPS Map Symbols packages can be downloaded from the following links and installed manually.
After downloading the zip files from above connect your device to your computer and place the zip files into the following directory on the device:

How to Use
After installation the NPS Map Symbols icon packages are for available for immediate use. In the Locus Map app, while editing or creating a waypoint, tap the waypoint icon image to select a custom icon. In the resulting dialog tap the down-triangle symbol to open a list of available map icon packages as shown in the image to the right. Select either of the NPS Map Symbols icon packages and then select the desired icon from the graphical list.
